Our Journey So Far

Queen of the Crop and the Covet shapewear collection was born out of a eureka moment Nzinga Graham-Smith (Queen of the Crop’s Founder/Creative Director) had in 2010 after the birth of her first child.

February 2015: Partnered with breast cancer awareness charity Coppafeel! for their Brahijack campaign by adding ‘Boob Checker’ reminder tags on all Covet shapewear to show women how to check their breasts.

June 2015: Covet shapewear collection’s first production arrives after years of testing, trial and errors, lack of sleep and social life. But it was all worth it to see the vision come to life!

August 2015: Queen of the Crop participated in its first Fashion Week as a sponsor and received great press reviews in Birmingham, West Midlands region and London.

October 2015: The first export of Covet shapewear was to Italy to retailers in Bari, Termoli and Flero, and received press recognition in the Chambers of Commerce.

July 2016: Queen of the Crop’s Covet collection was featured in Underlines magazines in July 2016 edition as the ‘Shapewear brand to watch for 2016’.

September 2016: Covet’s nude (Pearl) bodysuits and camisole vests were used at New York Fashion Week in Dennis Basso’s couture catwalk show with praise reviews.

November 2017: Successful new revamped website launched with 30% off all Covet shapewear given to our valuable customers, generated prosperous interest and feedback!

2018 – Future: Queen of the Crop will improve and expand its Covet shapewear collection, develop partnerships and introduce new products to establish itself as a lifestyle brand.

Woman Behind The Brand

Nzinga Graham-Smith Founder and Creative Director of Queen of the Crop
The personal experience of one woman who suffered with depression, low body confidence and a battle with expressing her true self is what lead to the creation of Queen of the Crop and bodywear shapewear collection, Covet. Her vision to create a lifestyle brand and products that would enable women to love and express themselves with style and a sense of well-being, by representing women's successes, courage and beauty.

Nzinga Graham-Smith is a mother of 2 girls from Birmingham, UK, and the founder and Creative Director of Queen of the Crop. She has a passion for business and self-development, especially supporting women and young people on personal and business development.

In her early career she worked in the music and entertainment business as a publicist, developed and taught PR, business, and confidence building workshops to young people from deprived areas and in gangs on how to channel their street skills in to business or higher education and being a positive role model.

Nzinga enjoys giving back to her community, building wealth, reading, networking, travelling, continuing to invest in herself and well-being, spa treatments, going to the gym, cooking, eating-out, watching sports (tennis and football), going to music and entertainment events and having fun in life!
